Shoot & REALLY edit "self portrait"...

I was REALLY not going to participate in this SOOC photo challenge...I am meant to be BEHIND the camera, never in front of it. Then I caught myself. After school today, I had a conversation with my daughter about accepting people for exactly who they are. Mmmm. How about accepting myself? Wrinkles, bad skin, frizzy hair and all...better try to walk the talk. I have also realized that Photoshop & the subject of people - I need A LOT of work. I tried to use the CoffeeShop Baby PowderRoom, but it didn't work as it should have (my fault, I'm sure). I don't even remember exactly what I ended up doing to my final edit, but this is what I ended up with:
AFTER...

BEFORE...

WAY more comfortable on the other side of lens, so hopefully no more "selfie" challenges!! :)

You are entirely too hard on yourself - you are beautiful and your edit is so nice!

Oh, you're beautiful, Julie!! People photos are certainly not my forte...especially photos of myself, so I'm with you! :)

Julie - really you are beautiful and I truly hope that what you are hearing will sink in deeply to your heart. Look past the things that bother you and see the way others view you. Trust us the view from our side of lens is beautiful!

I can't decide which I like better, the before or after. They are both good. You have great hair!

I know where you are coming from about being behind the camera though. It's just so comfortable there.

I think both are great (and you're very pretty)! What you said about acceptance is so true. I'm making a goal to get in front of the camera more often. Thanks for the reminder!

You are beautiful and I hope if you're not taking photos of yourself, someone in your family is taking them for you! I'm doing 52 self portraits this year, one each week and it's primarily so my kids will have some photos of me that aren't taken by people who don't know how to operate a camera. :)

I love the crop you applied and you did a great job enhancing the lighting and colors. Your hair and eyes are really brought to life in the edit!

Super-cute edit and pose! It's hard to accept oneself... (I still have trouble with the freckles, even though everyone seems to love them.) I love your bright eyes and the personality that comes through in this shot. :D

Isn't it great when we're trying to teach our kids something and then they point out we're not practicing what we're preaching??? lol!!

Love your edit -- and lady -- you are beautiful!!! Yes, you may be more comfortable behind the lens, but your kiddos/family will one day appreciate all the times you got in front of the camera -- whether by yourself or with them! Those are some memories that you don't want to miss!

Love your edit and the crop works nicely with this shot. As I look at the wonderful self portraits I can't help but wonder why so many (me included) are so hard on ourselves.

Your SOOC was beautiful, but your edit really made it pop! You are gorgeous; I love how your edit gives your hair an auburn hue!

I think both your edit and SOOC are beautiful! You have very beautiful eyes!

You really are pretty, Julie. That's a nice shot and if you're like most other photographers (and wives and mothers etc) you probably don't have enough pictures of yourself around. Heh, heh.

See!!! So many women...listen to us Julie....know that we are so hard on ourselves! You truly are gorgeous INSIDE AND OUT!!! and I cherish every bit of you and our friendship. I LOVE this close up of you. You're radiating. You have smiling eyes, and they show up as such here. I'm glad you took on this challenge...and if and when your kids read your blog, they will be happy with it too!
Happy spring back at you by the way.

You are beautiful! I'm talking about before the edit. But I totally understand what you mean. I took my first "selfie" last week and it was hard! I'm never in front of the camera. Ever. Kudos to you for putting yourself "out there"!
